OH MY GOD. This trip is 3.5 weeks away. This is what I realized a few days ago. I sent my passport to DC to get my Tanzanian visa and as soon as it left my possession I realized that when it got back, I would be traveling around the world for 6 months. I obviously knew this fact before but I think it just hit me for the first time when I realized that my ticket around the world was no longer at my house ( and they better send it back promptly!!)
Planning wise, I am wrapping things up quite well if I do say so myself. Getting all my ducks in a row....I have been able to work a decent amount of overtime...so now I am going to lay off of work and focus on spending time with friends and family before I go :) My official last day of work is February 6th (4 days before I leave, I know I am crazzzy)...but that is only because I need my flexible spending to cover my second Japenese Encephalitis shot before I leave and the earliest date I can get that shot is...you guessed it....Feb 6th. Luckily, that is the only shot I didn't already have from previous trips. That plus a tyhpoid booster (this shot is awful, avoid it at all costs), 130 (that's right, 4 months worth) of anti-malarials, some antibiotics, and some altitude meds and my visit at the travel clinic was completed :)
Next up....a packing dry run....the most dreaded pre-RTW task of all. I'll let everyone know how that goes.
Hope to see everyone at the goodbye party on the 28th!
